Ken Hames provides an account of the legendary fighting unit's World War Two offensives between 1942 and 1944 in North Africa, where the SAS forged their reputation as the world's most feared fighting force. Special Forces leader David Stirling transported his men using customised US jeeps fitted with guns and led successful raids on Luftwaffe airfields, shooting up to 40 transport planes at one base and destroying 34 at another by planting bombs underneath them.
