Ageing superspy Sir James Bond comes out of retirement to tackle a mysterious mastermind who wants to take over the world. David Niven, Woody Allen and Peter Sellers head the all-star cast of this espionage spoof, loosely based on Ian Fleming's novel, so you might expect it to be a laugh riot, but too many of the gags collapse. Orson Welles, Deborah Kerr and original Bond girl Ursula Andress co-star.

With Arthur Hill and Yul Brynner, who reprises his role as the murderous android gunslinger.
3.50pm Film: The Left Handed Gun (1958, PG)
Billy the Kid sets out to exact revenge on the bandits who killed his friend and mentor. Arthur Penn's Western adventure stands out from all the other movies chronicling the legendary outlaw's life, thanks to splendid direction and a top performance from leading man Paul Newman. John Dehner, Lita Milan and Hurd Hatfield co-star.

The last episode in the series examines how humans perceive and experience time, investigating the internal body clock which tells people when to eat, drink, sleep and relax. Plus, the concept of light speed and how it could one day enable time travel, and why a humble worm may hold the key to eternal life.

A recently released convict comes under suspicion when a warden at his parole hostel is murdered, but when the cold case squad become involved, it transpires the former prisoner may have been the intended target rather than the perpetrator, and that this killing may be connected to previous, unsolved crimes. With Lou Diamond Phillips, Scott Glenn and Matt Damon.

Griff Rhys Jones visits Northern Ireland to examine three compelling cases for restoration, all of which demonstrate how the Province's architectural influences have spread further afield. Competing for the viewers' vote are a lock-keeper's cottage built at the side of Britain's first canal, Armagh gaol, Northern Ireland's oldest prison and the Derry Playhouse, once home to a community of pioneering nuns.

Dr Hook decides it's time to go public about Dr Stegman's culpability in the Mona Klingerman case — but his actions trigger an unexpected reaction in the beleaguered doc, who embarks on a violent and vengeful rampage. Peter suffers yet another seizure, and gets a glimpse of what the future holds for Kingdom Hospital, while Mrs Druse establishes a link with Mary — but can they put the past to rights? Stephen King's chiller, starring Bruce Davison, Andrew McCarthy and Jack Coleman.

Unlucky Alf calls in the professionals after his home appliances turn on him, and Cliff the Crafty Copper keeps the streets safe out on the beat. Plus, top spymaster George Wily, the Wily Interrogator reveals a few tricks of his trade.
11.10pm Film: Feeling Minnesota (1996, 18) (on DVD)
Keanu Reeves stars in this distinctly patchy romantic comedy, playing a jailbird who steals the heart of his brother's fiancee on the eve of their wedding and runs away with her, setting the scene for tragedy. It's surprising the movie is such a let down, given the above average cast, which also includes Cameron Diaz, Vincent D'Onofrio, Dan Aykroyd and Courtney Love.

Fred resolves to tell Mike about Penny and Ciaran's suspicious get-togethers, while Martin demonstrates his commitment to Katy by booking a holiday for them both, even though Gail makes it clear she's not impressed by their reconciliation. Harry suffers a triple whammy — first he learns the Underworld staff have given him an embarrassing nickname, then discovers Jamie has been given his job, and finally gets a painful reminder of his daughter's death courtesy of tactless Frankie.

Anna is unsure whether she should tell Luke the truth about his chances of recovery after his near-fatal rugby accident, and Ozias Harding's persistent bullying forces Billy to resign from the factory, leading Nathan to take revenge against the businessman by asking his daughter Alice out. Felicity and James plead with Baron Von Rheingarten to save Eugene from execution, but the German refuses to listen and the young man is taken away to be shot as Philip looks on distraught. Is it possible for sport stars to remain faithful to their religious beliefs in a career obsessed by success, and which is more important — spiritual or physical fitness? Melvyn Bragg chairs a discussion about the role of religion in sport, with Christians in Sport general director Graham Daniels, West London rabbi Mark Winer and ex-midfielder Gavin Peacock, who played for Chelsea, Newcastle and QPR.

Will the hazardous conditions prove too much, or will they find the evidence they need?

Tim Burton's bizarre and utterly beguiling modern fantasy, starring Johnny Depp, Winona Ryder, Dianne Wiest and Alan Arkin. Frequent collaborators Burton and Depp have recently started work together once more, for a retelling of Roald Dahl's classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and animated folk story The Corpse Bride.

New series in which Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan set out to transform homes stuck in a time warp. They begin with a semi in Romford, Essex, boasting all the worst elements of Seventies style — stone cladding, clashing interiors and a less-than-charming bathroom. One month later when the presenters return, will their modern styling have made an impact? Jo Brand narrates.
