Francis Ford Coppola's much-derided comedy drama attempts to pluck at the heartstrings, but Williams' typically over-the-top performance ruins any sense of subtlety. Hazel Irvine presents the conclusion of the third round at Sunningdale, where world number one Annika Sorenstam is the defending champion. The Swedish player already has four tournament victories to her name this year, including the LPGA Championship and she'd love to pick up another Major this weekend. 5.15pm Film: Sands of Iwo Jima (1949, PG) (on DVD)
John Wayne stars as a tough, embittered Marine sergeant who sets out to mould a group of raw recruits into fighting men during World War Two, using often harsh training methods. But his controversial approach looks set to pay dividends when they finally see real combat. Classic flag-waving action adventure, co-starring John Agar, Adele Mara and Forrest Tucker.

Omnibus. Jamie is released from custody and returns home to a hero's welcome, but Frankie is appalled to discover his freedom has been won at a hefty cost. The revelation comes as a bitter blow, but serves her right for having ideas above her station. Someone else with inflated ambitions is Sally, who tries to talk Rosie into attending Oakhill private school, but only succeeds in exasperating Kevin. One woman who certainly couldn't be accused of aiming too high is Cilla, whose sole aim is to get back with low-life Les Battersby. Determined to kick-start their relationship, she corners him in the Rovers and uses her dubious feminine charms in a bid to turn his head — sending him scurrying off in short order to seek sanctuary with Janice.

Twin sisters decide it's high time their estranged parents got back together again and hatch an ingenious plan to reunite them. Sunny Disney comedy that's become only slightly irritating over the years, starring Hayley Mills, Maureen O'Hara, Brian Keith and Leo G Carroll.

Adaptation of Homer's epic tale, originally made as a mini-series but here shown in one feature-length episode. It chronicles the adventures of Odysseus as he tries to pass a seemingly impossible test set by the gods, while his unfortunate wife fends off the unwanted attentions of suitors convinced he will never return from his quest. Armand Assante, Greta Scacchi, Geraldine Chaplin and Jeroen Krabbe star.
5.50pm Film: Dudley Do-Right (1999, PG)
Premiere. Brendan Fraser stars in this enjoyable live action adventure based on the cartoon about a bumbling Mountie. It follows the hapless hero's efforts to rescue his sweetheart from the forces of evil, led by dastardly villain Snidely Whiplash — but has he any hope of success? With Alfred Molina, Eric Idle, and Sarah Jessica Parker as the damsel in distress.

However, he breaks his own golden rule by becoming emotionally involved with the woman, leading to a deadly chase as the pair meet up in Russia and try to flee from the real bad guys. Frankly boring adventure, with Val Kilmer taking the lead as the cult Sixties hero — but it's a role he's simply not cut out for. Elisabeth Shue and Henry Goodman co-star.

9.10pm Film: Born on the Fourth of July (1989, 18) (on DVD)
Steeped in realism, Oliver Stone's masterly double Oscar-winning fact-based drama chronicles the life of Vietnam veteran Ron Kovic. Beginning with his early years as an eager-to-impress, patriotic Marine Corps recruit, it shows his terrifying experiences of the conflict and his eventual return from South-East Asia as a disillusioned anti-war activist, paralysed from the chest down and facing a harrowing journey of physical and mental recovery. Tom Cruise gives one of his best performances in the lead, while Willem Dafoe, Kyra Sedgwick and Josh Evans are among the supporting cast.

The life of the former leader of Panama who rose through the ranks of the army to seize power and install himself as dictator — but his reliance on corrupt officials, misinformation and murder soon brought him to his knees. Historically inaccurate drama that inexplicably gives a serious subject a jarring, almost tongue-in-cheek treatment. Bob Hoskins, Jeffrey DeMunn, Luis Avalos and Tony Plana star.

Vernon Kay hosts the celebrity challenge, which sees Caprice learning the names and breeds of 26 different pigs, Big Brother contestant-turned-TV presenter Alison Hammond heading footballs and Daniel MacPherson performing the YMCA dance. It may sound like the former Bill actor has the easiest task of all, but there's a twist — he has to complete the moves while wing-walking at 500ft.

London versus Manchester in the fun inter-city challenge, hosted by Kirsty Gallacher and Phil Tufnell. EastEnders star Lucy Speed and TV host Jeff Brazier captain the crew from the capital, while presenter Sarah Cawood and comedian Paul Tonkinson rally the northern troops, with Gabrielle, Jennifer Ellison and V providing the music.

Police drama, starring Sam Waterston and Jerry Orbach.

Bland drama based on an actual case which shook America to the core as the unrelenting media gleefully exposed the intimate and scandalous details surrounding the tragedy. Noelle Parker stars as love-struck teenager Amy Fisher, who shot her alleged older lover's wife. With Ed Marinaro, Boyd Kestner and Lawrence Dane.
